Family Vision Board — that’s just what I decided to call it. What’s behind it? Whether you’re married, in a relationship, a single parent… we often talk about our visions and goals, and all too often forget to bring the people around us along. I mean the people who are truly close to us.

You’ve probably heard the saying: behind every successful man is a strong woman (it applies the other way around, and to same-sex couples, too). It’s often the people closest to us who have our backs, who strengthen us, who are there for us when we need them. All the more reason not to simply inform them about the direction we’re heading next, in the spirit of “you’re welcome to join in, or not.” It becomes far more powerful when we actually involve them. Let’s give them the space to fulfill themselves too. Let’s not assume that our own needs and wishes matter more than the other person’s.

Based on this idea, a few weeks ago I set my vision board aside to create a new one. This time not just with my own visions and goals, but with those of my family members too. Naturally, it’s huge, since it needed enough room for everyone.

It was an incredible experience for all of us — breathtaking! Not only did we have a lot of fun picking out and putting up our own pictures, but it was also fascinating to see what matters to each other. There are images on there that I never would have come up with, not even after 1,000 hours of thinking about it.

And what I find even more exciting is what happened next: since then, we’ve kept taking turns standing in front of the wall — with a big grin on our faces. Shortly after, another family member joins in. A conversation starts, questions follow, we reflect together: Where do we stand? What have we done in the past few days to move closer to the vision? What are the next steps for individual sub-goals? Where’s it currently stuck? What can I contribute as a family member to support the others (ideas, solution approaches, etc.)?

Even though we’re only talking about a few weeks since the board took its prominent place in the room, it has developed an incredible power and force. The speed of implementation has multiplied many times over. Because it’s no longer each of us looking individually at our own wishes and goals. We’re looking together at a shared vision, in which each of us finds our own very individual place.

A completely new experience for me, which I’m happy to share with you — maybe you feel like simply trying it out and watching what kind of magic unfolds for you…

Remember: pioneering spirit — you tell change where to go! 🚀

P.S.: I’ll be picking up the Family Vision Board topic on Wednesday in the DTC. Join us as we reflect on and dive deeper into the topic together… 👆 Here’s the link to tomorrow’s DTC room

3 Myths Debunked – When Science Creates Knowledge! | Dr Yasemin Yazan

When Science Creates Knowledge!

Unfortunately, there is a lot of false knowledge on the market. Be it because, for example, research results are misinterpreted or false causalities are made, or because they are transferred to other contexts that were not even the subject of the study.

We pick 3 myths and show what science already knows:

- Why Maslow's hierarchy of needs is not a reliable basis for motivation

- Why personality tests are questionable as a basis for personnel decisions

- Why a quota is needed as an effective measure against Unconscious Bias
